Thanks for the tour! Will you be doing more, or will you be able to take any more in-depth looks at what your new technology can track... kinda like an "anatomy of a storm"?
Hi. I have been out of town and logged on when I returned and was treated to what I hope will be the "first" of Don Paul's weather tours! Great idea to take us behind the scenes to see what you folks are working with. Hope there are more to come!
Amazing tour, the channel 4 team does a amazing job calling the weather, I'm glad a local station puts this much concern and dedication into WNY weather it sure can change in hurry keep up the great work
Thanks, Petie, for the "Sweetie" comment.:-) And thanks to all of you for the compliments. There's much more than meets the eye here at WeatherWatch4. We have oodles of bells and whistles working behind the scenes!
We just winged it for a minute or 2 (cinema verite, you know) and had some fun. I almost asked MB to sing us an aria, but she doesn't get paid for that....
One thing that makes channel 4's weather unique is the fact that you guys give us the viewers a look at what the weather may be like down the road ahead. Yea we want to know what the weather will be like tomorrow... or even this weekend, but it is neat to hear that "there is a storm system that will be heading our way next week" "the weather could get dicey"... and when that next week actually gets here... low and behold, a messy weather system hits Buffalo, and channel 4 was the first to alert or even make mention of it! (I like that!)
You know what Sean..... you are right! I guess that is part of what I like about watching Weather Watch 4's team... they are always seem to be looking out for what may b e heading our way next and down the road. Sometimes it happens exactly as forecast, sometimes it doesn't, but at least we are preparted for the worst!
I like the fact that when the News4 Weather Center mentions a storm system heading our way, they give you their take on what they think could happen. They also mention that it is too early to forecast accurately but that the system bears watching just in case. I , for one, like to know what might be coming our way weatherwise. I also like it when one of the meteorologists will disagree with the computer models. It's nice to know they have the expertise to make their own judgements and not rely solely on a computer to do their work for them.
Channel 4 has a great team of meterologists but....it would be nice if they would remind the viewers when we havean espcially cold night to take precautions if not to bring in pets that are exposed to the elements!!!!!!!!!!!! Afterall, they are voiceless!!!! Mary Beth,by the way, you top the team in this effort!!! Thanking you in advance...an animal lover!!!
Anon: Thanks for your nice compliment! BTW, we all work together as a team to deliver that kind of information to our viewers. Pets are just as important as people, and we certainly care about them, too! Stay warm :-)
i totally agree with anonymous" remarks about our little guys who are so unfortunate to be left out in the "cold" i also agree that "MB" tops the team in reminding viewers of this Keep up the good work and remember those animals!!
Nice going again Don and Mike...panic us with your gloom and doom...I've been dealing with the weather all my life and it was more accurate 30 yrs ago. Turn off the computer and look out the window and you have a better chance at being right, Here's anothe idea get a friend who live in Chicago and call him everyday and you will be closer???????
You panic easily, last anonymous. We thought it would be a big storm, and it came up a little short in some parts of the area, but our forecast at WeatherWatch 4 was--by far--the most low key on accumulations of any forecast in the region. 12-16" was our worst case scenario--not 15-20 or 22, as you may have heard elsewhere. Officially, we got 12.3", with up to 18 inches in parts of Niagara County, and 12-15" in general north of Buffalo.
Hope you've calmed down. And if you think it was more accurate 30 years ago, you probably think cars were better 30 years ago, too.

Don,
Thanks for taking the time and effort to create the film around the station.. No other stations seems to care for the weather nuts out here in WNY..
I toured that area several years ago almost 9 sat in on a news cast at noon and loved every minute of it..
Thanks again
Thanks, all.
