Buffalo Weather Experience Ctr "Meet 'n Greet" Fri
This Friday, March 7th, we're going to hold a "Meet n' Greet" gathering from noon-1pm at the Buffalo Convention & Visitors Bureau in the Market Arcade complex at 617 Main Street. We're inviting all interested members of the public to attend. We'll have just a short presentation on what the proposed Center is about, and take some informal questions.
Lunch won't be provided, so feel free to "brown bag" it, but we will have bottled water and coffee offered. Street parking is available on Washington Street.
We're continuing to make steady progress at this early stage, so we hope you'll be able to attend. See you there!

My School Is Just A One Block From The Buffalo Convention Center ,,,Can You Tell Me What Time Does It Start? Because I Dont Get Off From School Till 205PM And I Would Like To Meet You In Person And Contribute To The Buffalo Weather Museum
Sorry, Ayuud--It's Noon to 1. But we'll be setting up links in the near future so you can stay in contact.
ohhhhhhhhhhhh Men... I Guess I Can Meet You Next Time
I can't attend because of medical app'ts. So please keep me in touch of those links you're setting up in the near future. Also, I wish I could meet you Don Paul; you're a very interesting follow & I think I'd like to talk weather with you.
What kind of ideas are you looking for the exhibits? Are you looking for orginal ideas or something from the pass weather situations we've had in the Buffalo Area? Will you take stories of how I survived the Snow Storm in 2001 or was it 2002?
We have quite a list of ideas (and the types we're looking for)on the BWEC thread from the 1/20 archive.
Don:
How close is the BWEC to becoming a reality? Are there any dates? Do you have the location picked out?
I have more hope for this being an attraction to the city of Buffalo than a Bass Pro Shop!
Wouldn't it be fun if the Weather Center building were a huge, snowball-like geodesic dome? I think it would become an attention-getting landmark, as well as being architecturally appropriate to the theme.
cesna, no dates yet because of legal work now underway, business plan work to be completed, and design research.
carolr, our hope is to have an innovative and strinkingly beautiful structure on the waterfront. There are many architectural gems which we're examining at this relatively early stage.
Thanks for your reply, Don. It's great that you are inviting community input. I can't wait to see the final product. There is so much undeveloped potential here.
Don,
Is this going to be simalar to the one in Punxytawny, PA?
No, not at all.
This will be a huge undertaking on quite another scale.
Don,
What funding methods are being considered for the BWEC? Public, private, gov't or a combination of all?
Sincerely hope to see this become a reality for you. It'll be well deserved.
MC in Welland
Combination of all, Mary-Catherine.
The turnout was fantastic! It was a very fruitful information meeting.
I'm glad you had a nice turn out for the forum for the Weather Museum. It sounds like it can become a reality sooner then later. Having a huge snowball hanging in the foyer of the Museum would be a great eye opener as the visitors come in & see the it shining. We're known for the snow, so we might as well capotalize on it.
I was very favorably impressed with the presentation on March 7. Your group seems to have the right combination of skill, enthusiasm and innovative ideas. Hope the project keeps snowballing along! I'd love to volunteer in the research area, if possible.
